A lecture and discussion with UN High Commissioner for Human Rights and everyday human rights defenders will focus on grassroots efforts under way around the world to speak out and stop discrimination.

Events around the world
United Nations offices around the world partnered with civil society organisations, governments and academic institutions to commemorate Human Rights Day 2010 through a range of events.
Examples include: a testimony event in Brazzaville, Congo, featuring human rights defenders sharing their stories; drama presentations on human rights defenders in Lusaka, Zambia; and a roundtable discussion on household employee rights in Rabat, Morocco. Read more about events around the world.
