Four UN entities - the United Nations Staff Union, the Department for General Assembly and Conference Management, the Office of Human Resources Management and the Office of Central Support Services - joined hands to organize a series of events at UN Headquarters in New York (UNHQ), on Friday 30 November 2018 to raise awareness amongst the staff of the specific challenges faced by colleagues with disabilities.
- A panel discussion, “Creating a more inclusive workplace”, with special guests including the Commissioner of the New York City Mayor's Office on Disability (12:30 to 1:30 p.m., Conference room 12)
- A workshop led by Dr. Elizabeth Lockwood, CBM International, (1:15-2:45 p.m. 2 sessions, Conference room 9)
- A demonstration of Google glasses by accessibility expert, Matt Ater (1:15-2:30 p.m., Secretariat Lobby)
- A presentation by Andrew Nye on the study on accessibility in UNHQ (1:15-2:00 p.m., Conference room A)

A number of events were organized at UNHQ by the Department of Economic and Social Affairs (DESA), in collaboration with the Office of the President of the United Nations General Assembly (OPGA), the Permanent Missions to the UN of Ecuador, the Republic of Korea, Brazil, Bulgaria, Italy, the Philippines, the United Kingdom, Japan, Singapore and the International Telecommunications Union (ITU), UN Women and the UN Department of Management.
