IYC 2011 - International Launching Ceremony
The Official International Launch Ceremony for IYC 2011 took place at UNESCO World Headquarters in Paris on 27-28 January 2011, under the aegis of the UN, UNESCO (United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization), and the IUPAC (International Union of Pure and Applied Chemistry).
IYC 2011 presents a unique opportunity to promote, celebrate, and advance Chemistry in all of its beneficial aspects. The influence of IYC 2011 will extend long after the program of events for the year has ended. The year 2011 itself will be the point from which the Chemists of the world can refocus sustainable world environments in which we all must live together. IUPAC and UNESCO eagerly anticipate working with you to reach this important goal.
Art and Science of Chemistry: exhibition, film, concert
The exhibition "Chemistry: our life, our future" will showcase the work of over 20 institutions and enterprises in the field of chemistry.

100th Anniversary of the Nobel Prize in Chemistry Awarded to Madame Marie Curie
A French-Polish celebration of the 100th anniversary of the Nobel Prize in Chemistry awarded to Madame Marie Curie was held in La Sorbonne the day following the Official IYC Opening in UNESCO, on January 29, 2011.
