Considering regional cooperation issues, the Council adopted two resolutions, on the review of the intergovernmental machinery of the Economic Commission for Africa and on the admission of the Republic of Korea as a Member State of the Economic Commission for Latin America and the Caribbean.
ECOSOC adopted a resolution on the economic and social repercussions of the Israeli occupation on the living conditions of the Palestinian people in the occupied Palestinian territory, including East Jerusalem, and the Arab population in the occupied Syrian Golan, in which it called for the lifting of the severe restrictions imposed on the Palestinian people to alleviate the desperate humanitarian situation in the Occupied Palestinian Territory.
The Council took up issues on international cooperation in the field of informatics and science and technology for development, and adopted decisions on the flow of information for the follow-up to the World Summit on the Information Society.
ECOSOC considered the issue of mainstreaming a gender perspective into all policies and programmes in the United Nations system.
