During the session, the Committee will discuss transformative, equitable, innovative and urgent actions to rebuild trust, revitalize institutions and realize the SDGs. The session will cover a range of governance and institution-building issues, anchored in multilateralism, that are critical to meeting today’s sustainable development challenges. These include:
- Transformative actions for a sustainable future for all.
- Options for measurement of the principles of effective governance for sustainable development and the Committee’s pentagram of action.
- Governance and institutional perspectives on strengthening resource mobilization for the SDGs.
- Science, foresight, systems thinking, risk analysis and artificial intelligence for a future-oriented public administration.
- Building institutions to promote peaceful and inclusive societies, focusing on women, youth and those in vulnerable situations.
- Institutions, climate action and environment: ensuring the availability and sustainable management of water for all.
The Committee will also facilitate a peer exchange with selected Voluntary National Review countries on experiences and promising practices in implementing SDGs 16 and 17 and hold an interactive consultation with observer organizations. As part of its deliberations, the Committee will review its input to the 2026 High-level Political Forum on Sustainable Development and adopt a draft resolution on its work for consideration by the Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC).
The session is open to eligible observers from all regions of the world and will be streamed live on UN Web TV in six languages.
