On 21 November, the Visitors Services Section welcomed a high-level delegation of 27 senior Australian officials participating in the Executive Development Programme for Senior Executives at the National Security College.
The group included leaders from across Australia’s national security architecture, including the Department of Prime Minister and Cabinet, Department of Defense, Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade, Australian Federal Police, Department of Home Affairs, Attorney-General’s Department, Treasury, and other key national security agencies.
Led by UN Guided Tour staff Ben Danieli and Jacky Tong, the delegation toured key operational areas of United Nations Headquarters in New York, including the General Assembly Hall and the Security Council Chamber.
The visit provided delegates with insight into the United Nations operations and highlighted the Organization’s work in diplomacy, peacekeeping, and international security cooperation.
During the tour, delegates engaged with United Nations staff to discuss shared challenges and approaches to global security.
The visit showed the importance of multilateral engagement and provided senior Australian officials with a deeper understanding of the role of the United Nations in promoting international cooperation.
The delegation departed with a renewed appreciation for the work of the UN and its contribution to global peace and security.
