Synopsis:

In September 2016, the love story Half Girlfriend became the first Bollywood production to film at United Nations Headquarters. Based on a book by best-selling author Chetan Bhagat, the film tells the story of Madhav (Arjun Kapoor), a young man who secures funding from the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation (BMGF) to have new toilets installed in the rural school that his mother runs in India to enable girls to attend school on an equal footing with boys. Madhav comes to New York for an internship at the UN to work on a joint UN/BMGF project.

CCOI’s Role:

CCOI reviewed the script for accuracy with regard to the depiction of the work of the United Nations and provided feedback to the production. CCOI facilitated on-location filming at the UN, including the preparation of a location agreement.
