Unleashing the Power of Youth: Shaping a World Free from Corruption

In a world striving to ensure no one is left behind, we, the youth, should stand as fearless young advocates who understand that corruption is a formidable barrier to sustainable development. The 20th anniversary of the United Nations Convention against Corruption (UNCAC) holds profound significance for me and my fellow young anti-corruption advocates, as it emphasizes our pivotal role in fighting against corruption and promoting a culture of integrity. Recognizing the urgency of this mission, we are determined to combat corruption head-on, knowing that it is necessary to ensure a sustainable future.

As an agent of change, I believe in the transformative potential of meaningful youth participation in global anti-corruption agendas. Collaboration is essential for achieving the 2030 Sustainable Development Agenda and leaving no one behind. With a shared vision of promoting a culture of integrity and anti-corruption, I call upon other youth to join forces in this critical endeavor.

Integrity, ethics, diversity, innovation, gender equality, and disability inclusion are interconnected values that fuel my commitment to change. If the youth actively participate in decision-making, we can lay the foundation for a world where corruption is not tolerated. To increase the possibilities of success of our contributions, we need to build youth-focused synergies. I emphasize the importance of joining hands with governments, international organizations, academia, and civil society organizations to realize that whole-of-society approach we dearly need for our way forward. Together, we amplify our voices, driving transformative change and leaving behind a legacy of anti-corruption for the next generations.

But to achieve this goal, we need education. Education stands as a cornerstone of sustainable development. Young people must know what corruption is, its consequences, and the importance of ethical behavior and integrity. Without anti-corruption education at all levels of society, we will not be able to build a future where corruption is not the norm.

Change will not come from one day to another. The journey may be arduous, but the promise of a corruption-free world is worth every effort. We need to stand together and not give up.

As an anti-corruption advocate, I try to lead by example. I try to use my voice to promote anti-corruption efforts, demand accountability, and inspire others to join the endeavors. I believe in a world where trust in institutions is strengthened, and human rights are guaranteed to everyone. We, the youth, represent a growing generation in the world population. Can you imagine what we can achieve if we come together? We can’t do it alone, but we can provide valuable insights from an inter-generational perspective, which is crucial for identifying and building innovative solutions. By entrusting the youth with the responsibility to lead, I believe we can forge a viable path toward a brighter future. A future where transparency prevails, accountability is guaranteed, and corruption is no more.

With the dedication of young advocates, the future we want and the world we need can become closer to reality—a world united against corruption, guided by integrity, and empowered by the transformative power of youth. Together, let us unleash the power of youth to shape a better world for everyone.
