The report Determined: Report of the Secretary-General on the Work of the Organization 2023, which is available in six official languages and in two accessibility formats (e-books in six languages and Easy-to-Read in English), is in line with the UN Disability Inclusion Strategy.

The report presents how the United Nations Secretariat has translated resources into results over the course of the past year. Following the traditional text-focused report that was issued in mid-August, this version draws on data, infographics, maps, and imagery to highlight the achievements we have made.

The report presents our work to support Member States in driving the 2030 Agenda, advancing climate action, promoting gender equality, protecting human rights, advancing peace and security, coordinating humanitarian assistance, promoting justice and international law, furthering disarmament, increasing drug control, preventing crime, combating international terrorism, and consolidating United Nations reform.

The report also provides examples of the work of the broader United Nations system to build a more inclusive and sustainable world, including a snapshot of our initial actions to follow up on the proposals presented in Our Common Agenda.

New this year, the report includes a slogan: “Determined”. It is the first action word of the United Nations Charter: “We the peoples of the United Nations determined to save succeeding generations from the scourge of war…”

It is also our approach when coming to work each day. In the words of the Secretary-General: “The women and men of the United Nations are determined in our efforts to address today’s cascading crises and set humanity on a new path to peace, stability and prosperity.”
