La décolonisation est l'une des réalisations notables des Nations Unies.   

Quand les Nations Unies ont été fondées, quelques 750 millions de personnes, presqu’un tiers de la population mondiale, vivaient sous le joug d’une puissance coloniale. Aujourd’hui, moins de deux millions vivent dans 17 territoires non autonomes.

Decolonization is one of the notable achievements of the United Nations. When the United Nations was founded, some 750 million people, nearly a third of the world's population, lived under colonial rule. New UN Archives website stores over 1 million pages of UN history

ARMS, in the Department of Operational Support (DOS), supports researchers from all over the world who come to New York to pour over documents chronicling 75 years of UN history, including its many peacekeeping and political missions.

New website on Gender and Women, Peace and Security launched

To highlight the important role of women in peacemaking, and to mark the 20th anniversary of the UN Security Council Resolution 1325 (2000) on women, peace and security (WPS), the Gender, Peace, and Security Unit (GPS) in the Department of Political and Peacebuilding Affairs has launched a new web page dedicated to inclusive and gender responsive mediation. The page is part of the UN Peacemaker website, DPPA’s online mediation support tool.

UN-EU agreement strengthens cooperation in peace operations

On 29 September 2020, the Under-Secretary-General for Operational Support, Atul Khare, and the head of the European Union Delegation to the UN, Ambassador Olof Skoog, signed an agreement to strengthen operational cooperation in international peace operations and crisis management. Watch Video
