Tuesday, 22 July, from 10:15 - 11:45am, Conference room 4, UNHQ, New York
The session is organized by the five Regional Commissions of the United Nations, convened this year by the Economic Commission for Africa
The regional session is a key discussion at the HLPF which brings in concrete examples from around the world on how to progress towards the SDGs, bridge gaps and overcome challenges. These lessons and best practices are a major value-addition of global processes such as the HLPF and Regional Forums, and the the five Regional Commissions of the United Nations play a central role in identifying and amplifying these messages. This year’s session focuses on the question of ‘What strategies can be used to mobilize regional action and leverage regional frameworks to support countries in ensuring effective follow-up to the Summit of the Future for SDG achievement?’ A report capturing the messages from all five Regional Forums will inform the session’s discussion, available here
