'OIL-FOR-FOOD' TALKS WITH IRAQ TO BEGIN 6 FEBRUARY

19960129 The following statement was issued today by the Spokesman for Secretary- General Boutros Boutros-Ghali:

The Secretary-General has decided that the talks with the Iraqi Government on the oil-for-food formula will start on 6 February in New York. The United Nations delegation will be headed by Under-Secretary-General for Legal Affairs and United Nations Legal Counsel Hans Corell.

We have been informed by the Iraqi Government that the former Permanent Representative of Iraq to the United Nations and currently Ambassador to the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) Abdul-Amir Al-Ambari will head the Iraqi side.
