Readout of the President of the General Assembly’s meeting with H.E. Mr. Michael Imran Kanu, the incoming President of the United Nations Security Council 

The President of the General Assembly, H.E. Ms. Annalena Baerbock, met H.E. Mr. Michael Imran Kanu, Permanent Representative of the Republic of Sierra Leone to the United Nations in his capacity as the incoming President of the United Nations Security Council for the month of November on 31 October 2025.

The President of the General Assembly and the incoming President of the Security Council discussed the programme of work for Sierra Leone’s Presidency of the United Nations Security Council, which will begin on 1 November 2025, including the signature debate that will be held on climate and security. They further discussed the process for the selection of the next Secretary-General of the United Nations.
