Fourth Conference of Nuclear-Weapon-Free Zones and Mongolia

The Fourth Conference of Nuclear-Weapon-Free Zones and Mongolia was planned to take place originally on 24 April 2020 in accordance with resolution 73/71 (“Fourth Conference of Nuclear-Weapon-Free Zones and Mongolia, 2020”). Mongolia was collectively chosen for the role of coordinator of the Conference.

Per General Assembly decision 74/549 of 13 April 2020 the Fourth Conference of Nuclear-Weapon-Free Zones and Mongolia was postponed to a period in 2021 to be decided by the General Assembly at its seventy-fifth session. By the Generaly Assembly's decision 75/575 of 29 July 2021 the Conference was further postponed to a later date to be decided by the General Assembly at its seventy-sixth session

The objective of the Conference will be to consider ways and means to enhance consultations and cooperation among nuclear-weapon-free zones and Mongolia, the treaty agencies and interested States, with the purpose of promoting coordination and convergence in the implementation of the provisions of the treaties and in strengthening the regime of nuclear disarmament and non-proliferation.
