Janvic Mateo covers politics, human rights, education, climate change and science and technology for The Philippine Star. He is the paper's lead coordinator for the Impact Journalism Movement, which brings together news organizations around the world to simultaneously publish stories that promote concrete solutions to development problems. He also teaches news writing in the Department of Journalism at the University of the Philippines. During the Fellowship, Janvic intends to focus his coverage on human rights and climate change, as well as the international perspective on Philippine foreign policy under the administration of President Rodrigo Duterte.
