Cooperatives matter to the post-2015 development agenda

The 2014 commemoration of the International Day of Cooperatives focused on promoting the real and potential contributions of the cooperative business model in achieving sustainable development for all. To celebrate the International Day of Cooperatives 2014, UNDESA-DSPD in partnership with the Committee for the Promotion and Advancement of Cooperatives (COPAC) organized a panel discussion, “Cooperative enterprises achieve sustainable development for all,” on 10 July 2014 at United Nations Headquarters, New York.

Representatives and experts from Governments, UN agencies, academic institutes and other civil society organizations shared their views on the principles, values and operational realities of cooperatives that make them as unique instruments for achieving sustainable development and contributing to the post-2015 development framework.
