SDG7 at ECOSOC Partnership Forum

Given the upcoming review of SDG 7 at the HLPF 2026, energy was spotlighted at this year’s ECOSOC Partnership Forum which took place on 27 January 2026 at United Nations Headquarters in New York. The opening session featured opening remarks by H.E. Mr. Lok Bahadur Thapa, President of ECOSOC, and H.E. Ms. Amina Mohammed, Deputy Secretary-General, as well as a keynote address by Ms. Sheila Oparaocha, Director of ENERGIA International Network on Gender and Sustainable Energy. As part of the Forum, UN-Energy and the SDG 7 Youth Constituency organized the SDG Action Segment on Goal 7 which brought together Member States, the United Nations system, the private sector, civil society, youth and other stakeholders. The segment showcased concrete, results-oriented partnerships and identified key messages, priorities and lessons learned to inform the 2026 HLPF in-depth review of SDG 7 and advance the implementation of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.
