Description
Faced with multiple crises—rising costs, inequality, COVID-19 impacts, climate emergencies, and conflicts—progress toward the SDGs is at risk. In response, UNDESA established the High-level Advisory Board in 2018, comprising global experts, to provide strategic guidance and policy support.

Now in its third phase, the project leverages the Global Policy Dialogue Series to connect SDG stakeholders, share innovative solutions, foster partnerships, and accelerate progress toward 2030. Its efforts primarily support SDGs 8, 10, and 17, aiming to foster inclusive growth and global collaboration amid complex challenges.

The UN High-Level Advisory Board – Offering solutions to advance our shared and sustainable future

In a global landscape struggling with inequality, conflict and climate challenges, the world needs all the help it can get. The United Nations is driving change—but it can’t do it alone. Voices from beyond the UN bring fresh ideas and bold solutions, helping to tackle our toughest challenges and ensure that no one is left behind.

The UN High-level Advisory Board (HLAB) on Economic and Social Affairs is a special group of thought leaders that the UN consults. The HLAB comprises global experts in economics, demography, social issues and the environment. This group of experts provide strategic and focused guidance and recommendations to accelerate action towards sustainable development. The HLAB convenes twice every year to discuss hot topics and share their recommendations to help the world advance towards a sustainable future that benefits everyone.

It is made possible through the United Nations Peace and Development Trust Fund.
