Exhibition: From Words to Violence: Lives Behind the Fields of Death
17 June to 26 August 2025
Visitors' Lobby, United Nations Headquarters
The exhibition provides a glimpse into the horrors of the genocide against Bosnian Muslims committed in Srebrenica in July 1995. Through photographs of items from everyday life, the story unravels - of lives lived and lost, and families torn apart. It shows the consequence of hate speech and inaction in the face of hatred.
The exhibit is organized by the Memorial Center Srebrenica-Potočari Memorial and Cemetery for the Victims of 1995 Genocide; and the Permanent Mission of Bosnia and Herzegovina to the UN and endorsed by the Office of the UN Special Adviser on the Prevention of Genocide; and the UN Department for Global Communications.
The exhibition is free and open to the public. No registration is required. Please visit UN Exhibits for visitor instructions.
Exhibition: Legacy of Hope After Srebrenica Genocide: A New Generation’s Journey
7-21 July 2025
Delegates’ Entrance, United Nations Headquarters
Through eight deeply personal stories, shared via videos and panels, the exhibition captures the journeys of young people who either survived the genocide as children or were born in its aftermath. Each story is a testament to human resilience and the transformative power of love in the face of unimaginable loss. Behind each of these stories is a mother, a pillar of strength in all her pain. A mother who chose dignity over vengeance, who raised her children to become educators, artists, activists, and community leaders. A Mother of Srebrenica, captured in a single image, but symbolizing many, stands as an icon of enduring strength, silent resistance, and unshakable hope.
The exhibition is organized by the Permanent Mission of Bosnia and Herzegovina to the United Nations.
