Welcome to “Caribbean Rights Out Loud”:  the home of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights (UDHR) as proclaimed in our Caribbean voice!

“Caribbean Rights Out Loud” is a UNIC Caribbean campaign to uphold and activate human rights by claiming them in the region’s languages – local as well as official.  Our goal is to translate the Declaration into as many Caribbean languages as possible and include them in the global UDHR Translation Project database.  More important, this campaign makes the Declaration more widely available to the people of the Caribbean by delivering it in their own local languages and empowering them to claim their rights.

Our first translations are into Jamaican Patwa and Saint Lucian Kwéyòl, and from 2024 we’ll continue producing Caribbean language versions of the Declaration.

Take action:

The power of the Universal Declaration is the power of ideas to change the world and language is the medium through which we experience and express the human rights ideal.
