Luis Mata joined the Culinart UN family in 1993 and dedicated more than three decades of service to our community.
Throughout his tenure, Luis worked across several café locations at UN Headquarters in New York, including the Main Café and the Vienna Café, where he became a familiar and welcoming presence for colleagues and guests alike.
Most recently, in November 2025, Luis was a valued member of the North Delegates Lounge team.
Luis was known for his cordial nature, strong work ethic, and genuine kindness. No matter the setting or the pace of the day, he consistently greeted everyone with a warm smile and a respectful demeanour.
His professionalism and positive attitude left a lasting impression on those who had the pleasure of working alongside him or being served by him.
Luis’ contributions went beyond his daily responsibilities. He helped create an atmosphere of warmth and reliability that defined the spaces he worked in.
He will be remembered not only for his years of dedicated service, but also for the kindness and humanity he brought to the workplace.
Luis will be deeply missed by the United Nations community. He is survived by his loving wife and three children. Our thoughts and condolences are with his family, friends, and all those whose lives he had touched.
