On 3 March, the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora (CITES) celebrates its fiftieth anniversary.

For this special milestone, the United Nations Postal Administration (UNPA) and the Secretariat of CITES worked collaboratively to produce 12 stamps highlighting species with conservation success stories.

For over 30 years, UNPA has celebrated the many beautiful and varied forms of wild fauna and flora on its postage stamps to raise awareness of the multitude of benefits that their conservation provides to people.

This landmark anniversary, which also coincides with World Wildlife Day, provides CITES and UNPA the opportunity to draw on inspiration from conservation success stories and reflect on the work that needs to continue to ensure the ongoing survival of these species for future generations.

The stamps feature the following:

In addition to the stamps, we will issue three postcards, a limited-edition silk cover, and a beautifully designed “Endangered Species” folder which details more information about these species.

The stamps are available online at www.unstamps.org and in-person from shops at the UN Headquarters in New York, Geneva and Vienna where the stamps can be used for mailing.
