Participation eligibility

Non-governmental organizations (NGOs) which are accredited to, and in good standing with, the Economic and Social Council are eligible to designate representatives to attend the session. Moreover, ECOSOC adopted resolution 2004/57 (please see page 153 of the ECOSOC document E/2004/INF/2/Add.2) which invites those non-governmental organizations not in consultative status, accredited to Beijing and Beijing+5 to attend the 49th session of CSW on an exceptional basis. Invitation letters to above mentioned NGOs will be sent out in September 2004.

Registering representatives

Eligible NGOs are invited to submit to the Division for the Advancement of Women the pre-registration form listing their representatives no later than Friday, 31 December 2004. NGOs are also encouraged to ensure that their initial application includes the names of alternative representatives in case any of the proposed applicants is unable to obtain an entry visa to the United States of America.

If your organization has internet access, please register online beginning Friday, 1 October 2004, as well as make any registration changes on this page. To login please enter Organization ID and Password provided in an invitation letter.

If you do not have internet access then substitutions of names of representatives can be submitted via fax to +1-(212)-963-3463 or through mail to CSW49 NGO Registration, Division for the Advancement of Women, 2 UN plaza, Room DC2-1282D, New York, NY 10017, USA.

After Thursday 24th February any additions or substitutions completed online or via fax will need one business day to be processed.

Please do not send any duplicate pre-registration forms by fax or mail as this will only delay the processing of information.

Visas

Please note that the United Nations will not facilitate the travel, visa, or other arrangements of subsistence for any participants to the 49th session of the Commission on the Status of Women. All arrangements for travel, visas, accommodation and daily subsistence costs are the exclusive responsibility of the participants themselves. Participants are required (by US authorities) to submit their visa applications at least three (3) months in advance to allow sufficient time for processing.

Confirmation letters

NGOs and organizations that have registered to attend the forty-ninth session of the Commission on the Status of Women (CSW49): it is now possible to print out your “Confirmation Letter” on-line.

To obtain your "Confirmation Letter" for attendance to CSW49, login to http://www.un.org/womenwatch/daw/csw/csw49/register.

Please remember you will need your organization "ID" and associated password to login (the same as the ones you had used for registration). While retrieving your confirmation letters, please also re-check your list of selected representatives to ensure it is complete and accurate.

Once logged in, scroll to the list of your organization’s representatives. Next to each representative listed you will see a "retrieve" button. Please click this button for each of your attending representatives. Finally print out the "Confirmation Letter". If you have problems retrieving the letters online, please send e-mail to csw49@un.org for assistance containing your organization’s ID.

The Division for the Advancement of Women (DAW) will not be held liable for any confirmation letters other than those officially posted on the website.
