The Secretary-General met today with H.E. Dr. Nkosazana Dlamini-Zuma, Chairperson of the African Union Commission.

They exchanged views on recent developments in a number of countries including Somalia, Madagascar, Mali, Sudan and South Sudan, the Great Lakes region, and the Central African Republic.

The Secretary-General congratulated Dr. Dlamini-Zuma and the African Union on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the founding of the organization. He reaffirmed the support of the United Nations to strengthen its cooperation with the African Union to ensure lasting peace and sustainable development on the continent.
