    Summary

    The objective of this segment is to demonstrate and evaluate new digital technologies for distance collaboration that are revolutionizing research and training on a global scale. In addition, participants will be offered the opportunity to create their own Web sites for global collaboration with the help of easy-to-use Web publishing tools.

    This segment of the Seminar on Internet Accessibility will be offered by Matt Bonham, who is Professor of Political Science, and Chair of the International Relations Program in the Maxwell School of Citizenship and Public Affairs at Syracuse University.

Format

Web publishing and video conferencing techniques were described and demonstrated during the all-day seminar offered at the United Nations in New York on 16 December 1998 (see below). A follow-up text chat session is scheduled for 13 April 1999 in a special IRC channel. During this session the participants will learn how to create their own Web site, using MS Word or an editor to mark up documents, which they will transfer to the AIMS server.

The Final Product

Particpants will become familiar with the resources that are available for the Seminar on Internet Accessibility and develop a Web Site that provides opportunites for global collaboration in their area of interest.
