World Food Programme (Haiti)

Yves Mery Bertline Laroque

Yves Mery Bertline Laroque, a national of Haiti, worked as a Staff Assistant to the Country Director of the World Food Programme, which she joined in 2003.

Born and raised in Haiti, she was known as “Bertline” to her family, friends and colleagues.

Bertline majored in Secretarial Studies at the Christ the King Secretarial School and graduated in June 2002. In 2009, she began taking classes at a university in Port-au-Prince to further her education and personal development.

Over the years, colleagues remember that Bertline showed consistent dedication to her work and demonstrated a high level of competency in her job.

She rose through the ranks and finally became a Staff Assistant, a post that she loved and in which she thrived, according to those with whom she worked.

Gentle and caring in nature, Bertline often offered advice and services to her colleagues. She took the time to take care of others. In turn, many of her co-workers frequently sought guidance from her.

Her family members describe her as a devoted daughter and sister. Bertline is survived by her husband Jacques Christopher Diderot Julien, her father and four brothers.
