Synopsis:
Set against the backdrops of war-torn Liberia and, later, in modern day South Sudan, "The Last Face" tells the story of the intimate relationship between two humanitarian physicians who dedicate their lives to help treat people in war torn countries. Directed by Sean Penn, the film stars Javier Bardem and UN Messenger of Peace Charlize Theron. The film was released in May 2016.
CCOI’s Role:
CCOI facilitated legal approvals and worked with OCHA to assist Ms. Theron in gaining access to Médecins Sans Frontières operations in the Central African Republic to witness how medical staff triage trauma victims in conflict situations.
