Event Summary:

The pilot for the Syfy television series Incorporated premiered at the UN Headquarters to an audience of the UN staff, external guests, and media as part of the annual World Television Day observance. The event drew attention to the power of media to raise awareness about global issues such as sustainable development and climate change.

Incorporated depicts a dystopian Milwaukee in the year 2074, where many countries have gone bankrupt due to the devastating impact of climate change and a series of related crises. In the absence of effective government, powerful multinational corporations have become de facto governments.

CCOI’s Role:

CCOI provided the show’s writers with access to UN experts on climate change and other issues, who provided technical advice on the development of the show’s storyline. CCOI also organized the screening and the panel discussion that followed.
