UN Technology Bank’s response to COVID-19
The UN Technology Bank is working with least developed countries, development partners and a range of different actors, including the private sector, to take swift action and boost local capacity in the areas of science, technology and innovation during and beyond the COVID-19 pandemic.
Our staff were engaged in building partnerships to boost the technological capacity of health sectors in least developed countries before the pandemic, now we are rapidly scaling up efforts, working on initiatives, to be announced soon, which will be key in increasing access to life-saving technologies.
We are fully committed to the UN system’s overall COVID-19 plan, launched by António Guterres, UN Secretary-General, which highlights the “immediate coordinated health response to suppress transmission and end the pandemic” with a focus on the most vulnerable communities.
The UN Technology Bank fully recognizes the unique and substantial challenges faced by least developed countries, especially during the COVID-19 pandemic and is taking all measures possible to ensure a fully efficient and globally coordinated response.
