Eveline Herfkens was appointed Executive Coordinator of the UN Millennium Campaign in 2002. The Campaign encourages citizens around the world in their efforts to hold Governments to account for the promises they made at the United Nations Millennium Summit, held in 2000 in New York. In the Millennium Declaration, Governments agreed to a set of eight goals, with concrete targets that, when achieved, would end extreme poverty across the planet.
