Synopsis:

The documentary Alias Ruby Blade focuses on the independence of Timor-Leste, told through the story of Kirsty Sword Gusmão, human rights activist and former First Lady of Timor-Leste. Once an aspiring documentary filmmaker, Kirsty worked for a time for the Timorese resistance in Jakarta, where she was known under the nom-de-guerre Ruby Blade and became acquainted with Xanana Gusmão, then leader of the resistance and later the country’s first president.

CCOI provided technical assistance to the filmmakers, as well as access to archival material.
