For the Holocaust Memorial Ceremony at United Nations Headquarter on 27 January 2025, the Lebensmelodien ("Melodies of Life") project ensemble performed music composed, sung or played during the Holocaust. Third generation Holocaust survivor Nur Ben Shalom founded Lebensmelodien, in response to a letter from his great-aunt and Holocaust victim, Salomea Ochs-Luft calling for revenge. Through music and storytelling, Lebensmelodien preserves and teaches the history of Jewish musicians and communities, bringing the voices and sounds that the Nazis sought to silence, back to life and into memory.

Watch the interview with Nur Ben Shalom, Artistic Director and Michael Raddatz, Director of Lebensmelodien.
