Inaugural Meeting of Landlocked Developing Countries on the Global Climate Agenda

Wednesday, 19 November 2025 - 2:00pm to 3:00pm

The 606 million people of the 32 Landlocked Developing Countries are among the most climate- vulnerable nations, facing a unique combination of geographic, economic, and institutional challenges that amplify their exposure to climate change. The establishment of the LLDC Group under the UNFCCC in 2025 and the adoption of the Programme of Action for LLDCs (2024– 2034) mark a turning point. For the first time, LLDCs have a structured framework to address climate adaptation, disaster risk reduction, resilient infrastructure, and climate finance. This meeting at COP30 seeks to build on that momentum, elevate LLDCs’ visibility, and foster partnerships to support their climate resilience and sustainable development.
