UN Peacekeeping’s 2023 flagship communications campaign, Peace Begins With Me  which marked the 75th anniversary, has won two prestigious awards.

The campaign was recognized with both a Davey Award (Gold) for ‘Social Campaigns and Series-Public Service and Activism’ and a Muse Creative Award (Platinum) for ‘Social Media-Community’.

Peace Begins with Me recognizes the service and sacrifice of United Nations peacekeepers, past and present, and highlights the resilience of the communities they serve.

The campaign was designed and executed by the Digital Media Team of the Strategic Communications Section of the Department of Peace Operations (DPO).

For 75 years, more than two million peacekeepers have worked to save and change lives in some of the world’s most fragile political and security situations.

The peacekeepers are ordinary people working in difficult and dangerous conditions to help secure sustainable peace and progress - inspiring us all to take action for peace.

The award-winning campaign introduced popular features like “Peacekeeper of the Day” and “Day in the Life of a Peacekeeper,” offering a personal and engaging view into the daily routines and diverse backgrounds of peacekeepers.

Building on this success, DPO launched the 2024 digital communications for the International Day of UN Peacekeepers under the theme “Fit for the Future, Building Better Together” on 1 May.

There is also a new interactive website showcasing the ongoing Peace Begins With Me campaign.
