10 June 2026

Registration for Term 4 of the 2026 Language and Communications courses opens on Wednesday, 17 June 2026. Whether you are looking to strengthen your professional communication, build confidence in another UN language or explore a new skill, this term offers fresh opportunities to support your learning journey.

Courses will run from 28 September through 4 December and are offered by the Language and Communications Training Unit (LCTU) within the Capacity Development and Operational Training Service, Office of Support Operations, Department of Operational Support. Open to eligible participants, the courses cover a broad range of topics, proficiency levels and formats, including online, in-person, and hybrid options designed to accommodate different schedules and learning preferences. While ongoing budget constraints may limit some offerings, this term introduces a refreshed portfolio of learning opportunities, including a new Spanish podcast workshop to build public speaking skills.

To support continued learning between July and September, our self-study offering remains available. Learners can explore self-paced courses to discover a new language, strengthen existing linguistic skills or develop strategies for inclusive and effective communication. Recent self-paced additions include an introduction to the Chinese writing system, authentic French listening practice through the UNTold series, professional workplace communication in Spanish and a beginner course on French pronunciation, basic vocabulary, and Francophone cultures. Participants also benefit from a streamlined registration process for easier enrolment.

The fall term will conclude with the celebration of Arabic Language Day on 18 December. More information will be shared closer to the date.

Registration for regular courses will close on 14 September 2026. For specialized courses, registration remains open until one week before the start of each training session. Self-study courses are available for enrolment at any time. Some courses fill up fast, so do not wait and secure your spot as soon as possible!

In-person registration support is available during working hours from Monday through Thursday at the UN Learning Centre, Secretariat Building, Level 3B. Online support is also available at dos-cdots-lctu@un.org.

We look forward to supporting you on your multilingualism journey!
