The Department of Peace Operations and the Department of Political and Peacebuilding Affairs are pleased to share this invitation to an evening of powerful performances celebrating African Diaspora voices and music for peace.

The event will be at SummerStage, one of New York City’s longest-running, free, outdoors music festivals.

The event will feature the UN’s newest Global Advocate for Peace, Maryam Bukar Hassan

A Nigerian poet, women’s rights advocate and peace activist, UN SDG Action Awards Creativity Finalist and regular collaborator with the United Nations,
who now represents the Peace and Security Pillar, Maryam Bukar Hassan will open the evening with a spoken word performance amplifying women’s and youth voices for peace. 

She joins an incredible pan-African lineup including Femi Kuti & Positive Force (Nigeria), singer-songwriter Elida Almeida (Cape Verde), hip-hop duo Dead Prez (US) and DJ Rich Medina (US).

Doors open at 5 p.m., show starts at 6 p.m. – doors will close at capacity, so come early to enjoy the show!
