The Division of Administration in the Department of Operational Support reminds delegates and staff in New York that as in previous years, the “Cool UN” summer settings will be in effect starting on Wednesday, 22 May until mid-September when outside temperatures start to drop.

During the summer season, thermostats at UN Headquarters are set to 77°F / 25°C in offices, and to 75°F / 24°C in the conference rooms.  The “Cool UN” programme demonstrates the Organization’s commitment to using energy wisely and to reducing our greenhouse gas emissions.

The landlords of our leased spaces in New York are asked to join us in this effort.

Staff are encouraged to dress in lighter clothing appropriate for a business setting, including national dress, so as to remain comfortable during the summer months.

For any issues relating to climate control in the office, please contact the help desk of the Facilities and Commercial Activities Service by submitting a service request through iNeed, or via email to unhq-facilities@un.org.

For more information on the UN’s environmental practices, please see Greening the Blue.
