UN Celebrates the International Day of Clean Energy 2026

Observed annually on 26 January, the International Day of Clean Energy is celebrated by the United Nations as a global platform to raise awareness, promote action, and foster international cooperation on clean energy. Established by General Assembly resolution 77/327, the 2026 observance will see UN DESA, with the support of UN-Energy, convene a high-level event on 26 January at 10:00 – 12:00 at United Nations Headquarters, co-hosted by the Co-Chairs of the Group of Friends of Sustainable Energy, Denmark, Ethiopia, Norway, and Pakistan. The Day will also mark the launch of the updated Global Plan of Action for the Decade of Sustainable Energy for All until 2030 and contribute to preparations for the SDG 7 review at the High-level Political Forum in 2026.
