The United Nations Postal Administration (UNPA) is proud to announce that their John Lennon Fiftieth Anniversary of Imagine stamp won the 2022 Yehudi Menuhin Trophy for the most popular music stamp award.

The Yehudi Menuhin Trophy is named after the famous violinist and conductor Sir Yehudi Menuhin, who was the patron of the Philatelic Music Circle from 1969 until his death in 1999.

Each year, to honour the memory of Sir Yehudi Menuhin, the International Philatelic Music Study Group awards a trophy for the most popular music stamp.

The stamp is chosen by music stamp collectors from around the world.

On 21 September 2021, the UNPA celebrated the International Day of Peace with the issuance of three stamps featuring the world-renowned musician, John Lennon. Special souvenir sheets were also issued containing the lyrics of the song “Imagine” by John Lennon and Yoko Ono.

The song lyrics encourage us to put aside differences and find common ground to imagine a world of peace, without greed, hunger, or barriers separating people and nations. John Lennon’s lyrics of peace, love, and goodwill have pervaded the decades and remain important as ever.

The stamp issue was designed by Rorie Katz of UNPA. The stamps were illustrated by Martin Mörck of Norway based on photographs by Bob Gruen (US$ value), Ian Macmillan (CHF value), and David Nutter (Euro value). The photographs are featured on the souvenir sheets.

The Yehudi Menuhin Trophy was awarded to Ms. Katz on behalf of the United Nations Postal Administration on 14 October 2022 at the John Lennon Memorial in Strawberry Field, Central Park.

The legendary rock and roll photographer, Bob Gruen, was also in attendance.

These special stamps can be purchased at the UNPA stamp shops in New York, Geneva, or Vienna or by visiting its website at https://unstamps.org/shop/john-lennon/.
