International Finance Community Looks toward Addis
The upcoming Third International Conference on Financing for Development in Addis Ababa was at the core of the IMF / World Bank Spring meetings on 17-19 April 2015 in Washington D.C. The Communiqués of the International Monetary and Financial Committee and Development Commitee highlighted the Addis Ababa Conference, which is recognized as “one of the key steps in determining the framework for financing the Post-2015 development agenda, including the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).” They also praised and stressed the importance of multilateralism and contributions from all stakeholders. The IMF, World Bank, and regional development banks should continue their collective efforts to “build a new global framework for sustainable development through 2030 and beyond,” and called for flexible, sustainable financing to promote development as well as technically robust targets to monitor progress.
