Summary
Investment in African higher education is the cornerstone of development that encompass quality health, skills, and education to narrow the gaps and build the capacity of local institutions to find their own indigenous solutions to engineer their ideas to national and international market and avoid dependency for foreign aid. By understanding this, People to People is ready for a side event at the conference of FfD to discuss the major issues about investing in higher education and skills in Africa. The session will bring experts together from the United Nation System: UNCTAD, UNESCO, and African Higher Education Institutions. People to People and its partners believe about the importance of building a strategic framework to foster the capacity of Pan African quality higher education and skill development. This is an opportunity to revitalize Africa with trans-formative change and maintain its sustainable development. Various research outcomes indicate that there is a need to invest in higher education with a focus on human skills development. Africa has closed its eyes hoping the solution from outside. However, sustainable development should be come from within by active involvement of private, government and western institutions that require major reforms both at the universities and country level.
