Capacity Development and Advisory Services
South Africa

South Africa is one of three countries in the African region that has participated in capacity development activities implemented under the leadership of DPAD since 2009. Activities address technical needs in the analysis of the impact of existing strategies to achieve the MDGs, and in the formulation of alternative policies that could help accelerate the achievement of the goals. Assessments on financing strategies available to South Africa for achievement of the MDGs and the macroeconomic repercussions of chosen strategies have been important outputs to inform policy making.
Activities in South Africa received support from the National Treasury and the Department of Social Development. DPAD collaborates closely with the United Nations Development Program country office in South Africa for substantive and administrative support, and the World Bank provided technical support during implementation of capacity development projects.
