Quiero felicitar a la Academia Diplomática del Perú Javier Pérez de Cuéllar en su sesenta aniversario [Congratulations on the 60th anniversary of the Javier Pérez de Cuéllar Diplomatic Academy!]

I am honoured to send my warmest regards to my distinguished predecessor, Mr. Javier Perez de Cuéllar.  As Secretary-General, he made enormous contributions to global progress. He remains an inspiration. 

I also send greetings to .H.E. Foreign Minister Ana María Sanchez de Rios, Academy Director, H.E. Ambassador Allan Wagner Tizon, and all participants.

Peru has made great progress over the last 60 years – but you remain focussed on looking to the future and building a sustainable world.
 
I saw this when I visited Lima last December for the United Nations Climate Conference. 

Peru and its new generation of diplomats can help the United Nations realize peace – which Mr. Pérez de Cuéllar rightly called the “simplest and most cherished dream of humanity.”
