Statement attributable to the Spokesperson for the Secretary-General on the deadly attack on UNAMID peacekeepers in Khor Abeche, South Darfur, on 13 July 2013

The Secretary-General was saddened to hear that a police advisor from Sierra Leone, injured in the attack against UNAMID peacekeepers on 13 July, in which seven Tanzanian peacekeepers were killed and 17 others injured, succumbed to his injuries on 30 September in a Khartoum Hospital.

The Secretary-General extends his deepest condolences to the family and friends of the late police advisor and reiterates his expectation that the Government of Sudan will take swift action to bring the perpetrators to justice.
