New York, 6 December 2011 - Statement attributable to the Spokesperson for the Secretary-General on Kosovo
The Secretary-General welcomes the resumption of the EU-facilitated dialogue between Belgrade and Pristina on 30 November 2011 and is encouraged by the adoption of the "IBM Agreed Conclusions" on 2 December 2011, which are expected to pave the way for the normalisation of the situation at gates 1 and 31 and the restoration of freedom of movement in a peaceful manner.
The Secretary-General urges the sides to further develop and implement, in good faith, arrangements based on these Conclusions, which are consistent with resolution 1244 (1999).
The Secretary-General also calls on all parties to honour the agreements reached in the framework of the dialogue, to refrain from unilateral action, and to actively support the de-escalation of tensions on the ground.
