The Secretary-General would like to congratulate the Transitional Government of Burundi and the Burundian people for the successful and peaceful conduct of the legislative elections on 4 July.

In reiterating his satisfaction with the major progress achieved in the peace process in Burundi over the last year, the Secretary-General calls on the Burundian parties to continue to work together in the spirit of the Arusha Agreement in implementing this final and most crucial phase of the transition, leading to the transfer of authority to an elected Government on 26 August 2005.

Elections législatives au Burundi

Le Secrétaire général félicite le Gouvernement de transition du Burundi et le peuple burundais pour la conduite pacifique et dans de bonnes conditions, des élections législatives le 4 juillet 2005.

Réitérant sa satisfaction face aux progrès majeurs réalisés dans le processus de paix au Burundi au cours de l'année passée, le Secrétaire général invite les parties burundaises à continuer à œuvrer ensemble dans l'esprit de l'Accord d'Arusha pour réaliser la phase finale et la plus cruciale de la transition, menant au transfert de l'autorité à un gouvernement élu le 26 août 2005.
