The Secretary-General met today with H. E. Mr. Nursultan Nazarbayev, President of Kazakhstan.

The Secretary-General recognized Kazakhstan’s commitment to nuclear disarmament. He expressed his hope that Kazakhstan would be among the Parties ratifying the Paris Agreement on climate change by the end of 2016.

He also encouraged the Government of Kazakhstan to establish national coordination mechanisms for the implementation of Agenda 2030. In this context, he also counted on Kazakhstan’s support to end the HIV/AIDS epidemic by 2030.
