Readout of the Secretary-General’s meeting with H.H. Sayyid Fahd bin Mahmood al Said, Deputy Prime Minister for the Council of Ministers of Oman

The Secretary-General met today with H.H. Sayyid Fahd bin Mahmood al Said, Deputy Prime Minister for the Council of Ministers of Oman.

The Secretary-General commended Oman for its positive contribution and support for the Yemen talks and the work of his Special Envoy, Ismail Ould Cheikh Ahmed. They exchanged views on the best way forward to bring peace and stability to the country, as well as on the Syria Donors Conference opening in London tomorrow.

The two leaders also discussed the implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals, climate change and migration, including the upcoming signature ceremony for the Paris agreement on 22 April 2016 and the High-level plenary meeting of the General Assembly on migration in September.

The Secretary-General stressed the importance of the first World Humanitarian Summit that he is convening in Istanbul on 23-24 May
