The Secretary-General met today with H.E. Mr. Ihmad Homa, Second Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives of Libya. They discussed the security situation and the latest political developments in Libya, including the signing of the Libyan Political Agreement and the nomination of the Government of National Accord.
The Secretary-General encouraged the House of Representatives to endorse the new government so that Libya can continue its democratic transition. They also discussed the worrying spread of terrorist activity in the country and agreed on the need to support Libyans in confronting the threat.
The Secretary-General reiterated the United Nations’ commitment to providing humanitarian assistance to the country.
