The Secretary-General met today with H.E. Mr. Serzh Sargsyan, President of the Republic of Armenia.

The Secretary-General commended Armenia for the strong UN-Armenian cooperation and for its support to refugees from Syria and northern Iraq. They discussed the Sustainable Development Agenda and its impact on Armenia. They also exchanged views on the recent developments related to the Nagorno-Karabakh peace process, with the Secretary-General expressing his concerns over the most recent violence and ceasefire violations in and around Nagorno-Karabakh and the Azerbaijani and Armenian border and underlining his support for the work of the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe’s (OSCE) Minsk Group.
